Tawas Point Lighthouse - "Cape Cod of the Midwest"

When my husband and I first saw this lighthouse, it was on the verge of raining and we weren't able to spend as much time as we would have liked, but we both realized that we found a fun lighthouse to visit.  It is located within a state park, so if you purchase one of those Michgian Park annual passes and want to see a fun location; I would definately suggest Tawas Point.  It has a fun gift shop next to it and you are also able to climb to the top (for a small fee), which many lighthouses don't allow you to do!  Also because it is located in a state park there are many locations for a picnic, hike or even camping!

Here is a  quote from the DNR Michigan website:

"Tawas Point has been referred to as the "Cape Cod of the Midwest." The campground is located on Tawas Bay where the water is shallow and warm for swimming. In the park is the Tawas Point Lighthouse which serves as the sole representative of a true Victorian-era style station on the Great Lakes."
